In 2013, I embarked on a journey to teach infant aquatic safety after being alarmed by the frequency of childhood drownings and witnessing tragic videos of near drownings across the country. It was a video of a toddler dressed in a blue jumper falling into a pool and then successfully floating on his back that made a profound impact on me and spurred me to take action. As a father of a 9-month-old with a pool in my yard, I knew that I needed to enroll my child in a program that offered the same skills as demonstrated in the video. However, I found that the nearest instructor was 100 miles away, and thus, decided to become a certified Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) instructor to address the lack of access to proper infant swim and self-rescue training in the Coachella Valley.
Since 2014, I have had the opportunity to teach ISR to thousands of children in the Coachella Valley. Witnessing the growth of my students' confidence and seeing them conquer their personal obstacles in the pool is my biggest joy. Though some children come to their first lessons with uncertainty, due to previous negative experiences or new environments, it is magical to see them overcome these barriers and achieve milestones. Being a part of these moments and having the trust of dedicated parents is a blessing, and I cherish every student and their achievements.
Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR), with it's Self-Rescue® program, is nationally recognized as the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. With over 55 years of research and development, highly trained certified Instructors committed to safety, and a proven history of success, parents can rest assured that their children are receiving the best possible instruction in the world today.
Real certified ISR instructor WILL NOT THROW YOUR CHILD IN TO THE POOL. Unfortunately videos have been going around on various social media platforms of non certified swim instructors aggressively teaching children what they believe to be a safe method of swimming. Those methods are not only dangerous but they also can lead to traumatizing children with a fear of swimming. These methods are completely against everything that ISR stands for.
Not only will your child be safe within my program but you will also be present the entire lesson to ensure the level of care is up to the utmost highest standard set by my company. It can be scary to see your child cry for you while learning to swim but there is a difference between a controlled environment and a chaotic potentially dangerous situation. If you are not certain please feel free to schedule a sit in to watch another childs lesson live.
